I have trouble logging into Facetime on my Macbook air Version 10.6.8

Can someone advise what to do when logging into Facetime fails continuously on my Macbook Air OS X version 10.6.8?

-I have added DNS 8.8.8.8 to my existing DNS

-My network works. I can receive emails and connect to the internet

-Facetime works on my Iphone 4S

Thanks so much

Hi Eric,

I am having the same problem as Naturally 1 above. I am running OS X 10.6.8 on a Macbook, I update facetime to the new version 1.0.4 because I was having problems with the previous version. On the earlier version people could not hear me on their computer so I was hoping this new facetime version would fix that. Well now I cannot even login to facetime. I have tried repeatedly and continue to get this error message in red: Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.

My network connection seems to be fine. I can use facetime on both my ipad and iphone. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi All,

Just been to the Genius Bar for help. I was able to connect on a computer instore. The Genius at Apple than connected my computer to another (but same) operating system to find out if it was a hard or a soft ware issue.

Unlucky for me it was a hardware issue and as my computer is officiallt classified as 'Vintage' it can't therefore not be repaired! So worth while to check this out!

Thanks all for your help!

I tried using version 1.0.4 last night and couldn't sign in either. I then restored version 1.0.2 from a Time Machine backup and it worked as it is supposed to. Might be a problem with the update (version 1.0.4).

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I ran into the very same issue. Audio drop out on Facetime in the past. So, when I see an update available, I think hooray, Apple finally got off its dead rear end and fixed the problem with the update. Downloaded the update, and now nothing works. Can't log in. Getting the same dumb message re: network. Also, it keeps asking for permission to book my passwords. What the **** is going on at Apple? Do they ever test anything before it is released?

I hope someone at Apple reads these.
