Unable to Play Videos

I am unable to play Youtube or other videos suddenly. I have Mac OS X (10.6). I tried installing the latest version of Flash and restarting the computer to no avail. The video window is solid black and will not play. In the past I have rectified by installing the latest version of Flash.
