I cannot print PDF files from Safari

Hello:

I am using 10.9.2 and Safari 7.0.3.

I can open PDF files from websites, but I cannot print the PDF files from Safari. If I want to print the file, I must download it, and then open it in Adobe Reader and THEN print. This is a pain in the @#$. I used to be able to simply print the PDF from Safari, and I would like to be able to do so once again.

I searched the the Apple Support Communities, and tried several suggestions dating back to 2007. No luck on any of them.

Do you have any suggestions?

Please help.

Try this ...

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

I've had exactly the same problem, for several months now, as mcbently (I can't recall which OSX or Safari upgrade caused it), but it is very annoying, and Carolyn's suggestion doesn't work.

I've just stumbled across the answer. Although I have Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed, I had removed Reader, thinking it was superfluous. On reinstalling Reader XI, even though it is not set as my default PDF reader, print now works, in the floating toolbar in Safari 7.0.3 under OSX 10.9.2.
