Hi! My imac27 fusion drive late 2013 restarts randomly when using 30" Cinema Display.

32 GB Apple RAM, Mavericks 10.9.2

I'm using  power outlets that eliminitates surge fluctuations.

What could cause this? What can i do? I', a bit desperate!

    My iMac has been extensively testet by an Apple Certified technician here  in Oslo, and he/they could nor find any hardware faults.

     

    They erased the whole drive (with my permission, of course) and installed Mavericks again, and kept the machine on for more than 24 hours, to see if the problem occured. It did'nt.

     

    I brought the machine home, plugged in the Cinema Display (with the appropriate adaper).

    After several hours, without any new software installed, the problem started again:

    Black screen, kernel panic for a couple of seconds, then rebooting again.

     

    If it has something to do with the Cinema Display, how can i find out?

    (The display worked fine on my MacPro (2008) for 6 years.)

    Before I try that, will then my Native Instruments Kontrol 1 soundcard work?

    I do a lot of work in Logic Pro X.

    I don't know. I do know that the panic happened when that extension loaded. You should uninstall it and test, IF that's what's causing the panic you should contact the developer to see if there's an update for Mavericks.

    The driver loads when starting the iMac. Why is it then that the maschine runs for a time (up to several hours) before it shuts down and restarts?

     

    I have searched for the extension "com.caiaq.driver.NIUSBHardwareDriver          2.6.0" with Spotlight. No results.

    I have also lookeg for it in all tehe Extension folders: root level, ystem level and user level.

    Cannot find it!

    What software did you install when you first connected the NI Kontrol 1? It more than likely installed with that. Check with the developer for updates.

    Yes, I'm doing that.

    In the meantime the iMac restarts randomly with many hours in between.

    The only hardware connected is the new Western Digital Thunderbolt Duo 4 TB...
