And how do I mask it from other clients and this is the bit I don't get, how can I have an Xsan 'client' that seems to be need to see the LUNs before the client OS is booted?
You can use LUN masking and mapping to present a LUN to a specific system. How to do that depends on the storage. Here's an article describing the process for a Promise VTrak RAID:
Well I gave up - whole thing is a mess, no way is this 'Enterprise-class' - I work sometimes on IBM XIV and DSxxxx and this Apple stuff is a POS compared. Even IBM call their V7000 StorWise series stuff 'not Enterprise' and it blows the socks off this.
I love Apple but this isn't/wasnt their finest hour....
