Why is my iPod not charging properly?

When I charge my iPod 5th gen. up to 100% it looses charge very quickly. Even if I just press the home button the battery drains really quickly. My iPod never used to do this but it is really annoying as I use my iPod very often and I want to get the most out of it but this is hard when the battery goes so quickly. If I were to take a few pictures, the battery life would run out in 5 - 10 minutes, sometimes even less. As I have said I use my iPod very often and this makes it hard to use. I really would like to know why my iPod is doing this and what I can do about it. I appreciate any response I get.

Thank you.

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem, and it does not connect to other networks, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Maybe only a bad battery
