New project export referencing edits from old project

I've got a project with many foley audio elements in it. 4 days ago I exported a version. Since then, I have changed a lot of the edits, even replaced some sounds with new ones. When I export the new project, it still has sounds and edits from the 4-day-old project. I have trashed prefs and trashed render files and the problem still persists. I don't use background render. In fact, I haven't hit render until now - I thought I might try to force it to render something fresh so that it can reference my latest edit. Currently waiting on that render.

Any ideas why fcpx wants to reference my old edits?
