Can I delete an update without installing?

The IOS 7.1 update was pushed down to my 4s earlier this month, but haven't installed it yet owing to the widely-reported battery drainage issues.

My 4s is currently running 7.0.4, with only one third-party app (Twitter).

Is it possible to delete an update download without installing it, or is running the installation the only way to get rid of it? I just went to back up the phone and the update download file is taking up nearly half the available space.
