How do I install an old Air Port to my Mac OS X

What is the model number of the "old" AirPort?

Look on the side of the Express. The model is in the faint print....hard to see....you may need a magnifying glass.


It will start with an "A" followed by four numbers.


If you see A1084 or A1088, the Mavericks operating system that you are using on your Mac does not support these older versions of the AirPort Express.


Use another Mac running Leopard or Snow Leopard, or a PC to be able to administer the older Express.


If you see A1264, then Mavericks can be used to set up and configure the Express using AirPort Utility.
