How do I get Kik on the Ipad 1?

I am wondering how to get Kik Messenger on the Ipad 1. Going to the App Store, for Iphone apps you can download Kik Messenger but it requires IOS 6.0 or later for version 7.1.0 of Kik. Ipad 1 does not seem to have the ability to get to IOS 6. I looked around and on a kik website about this problem and found this:

"If you can't update your software, that's OK. You won't be able to get some of the brand new features we've added in recent updates, but you'll be able to get the latest version of Kik that's compatible with your device OS.
