Clips imported from iphone into Imovie 10.0.3 lost after disconnecting

Hello everyone,

I have to import clips from my iPhone (5 if that's relevant?) into iMovie (version 10.0.3) to make a movie. I imported all the clips I needed, and put them into my clips folder and movie, and everything was fine. However, upon removing my iPhone from my computer (Macbook Air if that's relevant?), all the clips disappeared. In place of them, I saw a "clip" with the message "Missing Camera". I previously imported clips from my iPhone to make this movie and it worked, but now it is not working and the clips are only there for as long as the iPhone is plugged in. How can I get the clips to stay, without the iPhone still being plugged in. If I can't, is there any way I can email the movie with all the full clips and the iPhone plugged in, to myself, or place it on a USB? Thanks for the help.
