QUANTIN8R,

the only thing that’s noticeable in your EtreCheck report is that your Flash Player is out of date; the current version is 13.0.0.182. (If you’re currently not making regular backups of your MacBook Pro, then I’d highly recommend purchasing an external hard drive to use as a Time Machine backup destination; it’s inexpensive insurance against losing your personal files to an internal disk problem.)

In which ways would you like your MacBook Pro to run better? How is it currently suboptimal?

Melophage,

I have currently updated my flash player i didnt even bother doing it earlier.

It runs solid i just wondered if anything look out of the norm.

Ill try setting up time machine within the next few days.

Im going to look into getting an external hard drive but look at some reviews first. Do you have any recommendations? Like airport or something like that to help my time machine work best?

Thanks!

QUANTIN8R,

if you only have the one Mac to worry about, then since it’s a Mid 2012 model, it would be likely be best to buy a large capacity hard drive in a USB 3.0 enclosure. The speed of the hard drive isn’t critical, but the USB 3.0 interface will allow good throughput at a reasonable price. I’m preferential to Hitachi hard drives with five-year warranties, but different people here will have different preferences.

QUANTIN8R,

an external hard drive in a Thunderbolt enclosure would also perform well, but they tend to be pricier than ones in a USB 3.0 enclosure.

Apple makes an AirPort Time Capsule which combines a wireless router and a hard drive, so that you could make Time Machine backups over a Wi-Fi connection; this is handiest when you have more than one Mac to back up, but would also work well with a single Mac. You’ll pay a premium for this convenience, though.

Anyone see anything that doesn't belong? And can help my macbook run better?
