Q: iPad: High rez wallpapers zoom way in as backgrounds :(

I like using high quality images as wallpapers for my iPad. The iOS wallpaper selection interface even claims to support a Zoom feature, however, I cannot zoom out sufficiently to view my wallpapers properly. They're always zoomed way too far in.

iOS 7 / iPad Mini non-retina

Anyone know of a third party app that seamlessly scales down images when setting as wallpaper, without altering the original images?

    Hi mcandre,

If your desktop images appear too zoomed in on your iPad running iOS 7, you may want to try turning on Reduce Motion as outlined in the following article (apologies if you have already done so):

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, wallpapers still display way zoomed in, even with Reduce Motion enabled.

WIth reduced motion on, you should be able to use two finger pinch to zoom the image in or out.

I have a large, high res image as a wallpaper and the two finger pinch to zoom in or out should work to get the image to look the way you want it took look.

Have you tried zooming out the image?

Maybe the image is just too large?

No, Apple just failed to fix this issue in the past 7.1 update. Rumor had it that the "Perspective Zoom" on or off feature when setting a wallpaper would fix this, but it barely did anything. With reduce motion on and perspective zoom turned off, your wallpaper will still be annoyingly zoomed in, even if you try to zoom out, it just snaps back into its zoomed in state. I posted a question about this same problem but from the results that had... I am pretty sure it is still a bug apple hasn't fixed. It has to do with the parallax feature.

All we can do is wait for another update from Apple.
