Received emails with attachments not showing

Recently when I receive an email with an attachment, the attachment doesn't show in the body of the email. It shows at the top of the email body with the reply, reply all and forward arrows. Why is this happening now and more importantly is there a setting I can change so I once again get the .pdf or .doc icon in the body of the email?
