If you're in the US, Snow Leopard can be purchased from the online store here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard. It's worth noting that Snow Leopard is no longer being supported by Apple for security updates, so once you've updated Snow Leopard to v10.6.8, you might wish to consider upgrading to a later OS X release. Mavericks is supported on the Mid 2009 MacBook5,2, so that would be your best strategy. Your MacBook also supports up to 6 GB RAM, so an upgrade of your RAM would go a long way to ensuring newer operating systems perform well.
