erroneous iCloud calendar events/calendars

I've been hesitant to push my calendar or contacts to iCloud but with the Mavericks upgrade it seems it's the only way left to synch between devices.

That said when I view the "laptops" calendar in iCloud I notice a certain events that shouldn't be there. In particular, a "mis-entered" event (deleted) that shows up only in the iCloud. I also have a numner of random and old (also deleted) calendars, ones I made for a particular vacation or planning thingy.

And lastly, I'm noticing events I've entered on my iPhone push to iCloud but don't get downloaded to the MacBook.

Any help or links would be appreciated.

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Do new events entered on your Mac appear on icloud.com?

Also, check your phone to make sure you have selected your iCloud calendar as your default in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar. Then add a test event on your phone and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com. That will tell you if it is being successfully added to iCloud, and if so, that the problem lies with your Mac, not your phone.
