That said, dalstott's suggestion to use Pacifist is a good one. Pacifist is an application that enables a person to open PKG files and inspect, extract and/or install applications from them.

The Snow Leopard OS X 10.6 installation is performed by use of retail DVD or with a series of Mac computers whose vintage shipped with Snow Leopard 10.6.x on original install-restore gray colored series specific DVDs, that would be the other way to install Snow Leopard 10.6.x and then, you'd go through Software Update to get the Combo Update for Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8 v1.1 from the Apple Server online, to update it.

You can still purchase the retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD from the Apple Store online.

{The Pacifist link at charlessoft tells a bit about that software.

I've used it for several things to include troubleshoot & repair

of OS X systems with issues, also when fixing older Macs w/o

all the correct software, I was able to make due with vintage

discs and set up a working situation to perform hardware fixes.}

Hopefully this helps.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
