edited photos gone black?

Suddenly, any photos that I have previously edited now appear as a black screen, unless I view them as a master image. As soon as I try to edit a new version of the master image aperture crashes.

What happened, before the "Suddenly"? Did you move your Aperture library? Install new software recently? Upgrade software? What s your Aperture versin and your MacOS X version? Where is your Aperture library located?

Black thumbnails can indicate that the Aperture library needs repairing or the thumbnail images are corrupted, but the crashes could be caused by incompatible software or corrupted images or video in your library. Make a current backup of your Aperture library, without deleting any older backup, from before the time these troubes started,

Does Aperture work, when you create a new Aperture library and import a few images for testing, or does it not work at all?
