Converters ignoring actual date created...

Hi,

I am using Macbook Pro Retina 2013 10.9.2, all newest versions of everything, Mavericks ETC

Here is a story...

A video was taken on July 12, 2008.

In iphoto and aperature it says the "date created" "modified," "everything" was June 26, 2009. I changed this in iPhoto to the correct actual date the video was taken with a camera.

This changed all EXIF data in both applications to read the correct date "July 12, 2008."

When exported of course it still says "June 26, 2009" even though I export "original files."

I am assuming "original file" means what the EXIF data read on the camera at the very second it was moved onto a computer. All other videos during this time have the proper dates on them.

Anyway, I expect when exporting videos to have stupid things happen as they don't understand EXIF or whatever, so I guess one of my questions is, where did the date "June 26, 2009" come from in the first place?

I did not even have a Mac on "June 26, 2009" so I did not modify, change, or even go near this video on said date.

Now, I try to convert, edit, change the EXIF data using Hand Brake Batch, (it will not work out of Aperature, but it will work out of iPhoto). and check off "keep original file creation and modification dates." So of course it comes out as "June 26, 2009" again, as now I am seeing that no matter what you change in the EXIF data (iPhoto, Aperature) for some reason everything thinks "June 26, 2009" is the original file.

It really is not, never was, never will be.

-------Is there anyway in the world, to change this EXIF data back to the original moment in time when it was actually was created? After export? Before export? Anytime at all??

-------OR, am I using Hand brake Batch wrong?

Thanks,

Karen

Hi Terence,

Okay. So this video is in Aperture/iPhoto, and under "EXIF info" it says the date is 2008-07-12 (which is correct, and when it was taken).

When exported the dates turn to 2009-06-26.

Now, under "File Info" it says the "file date" is 2008-07-12.

Still, when exported, the date turns to 2009-06-26.

Is this the file name you are speaking of that I have to change?

I have already changed this date from 2009-06-26 to 2008-07-12.

Under "EXIF Info" - "File Info" - "Photo Info" - "General" - "IPTC Core" - Everything, it says the date created, modified, ETC is 2008-07-12.
