My ipod will not be recognized by Itunes

I keep trying to put my ipod on my computer and it will not go in as a drive. The computer recognizes it as "Connor's Ipod (K:)," but Itunes will not allow it and gives me an error message sending me to this screen:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US. I have done every single step including reinstalling iTunes but the problem still persists. The error message states "An Ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the ipod, then try again. If the problem persists, uninstall itunes, then install again." I have done every step on the page, and tried reinstalling itunes. It worked fine until I updated it to the most recent update. My brother's ipod does work however, same model(Nano 7th gen 16GB), except his is green(don't think it matters), which is odd. Please help as music is my life.
