Q: How to transfer files to my mac through airdrop?

My ipad and my mac unable detect both devices on airdrop? How to set this up and why unable to detect on both devices?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.6.8), iphone 5

Airdrop for Ios and airdrop for OSX are two different protocols and do not work together, you can share between Ios devices or between OSX devices but not to each other, you will need to find a different app to achive your goals.

+1 to what robdrage said... Can't Airdrop from iOS to OS X. What I do to keep my devices in sync is to use Dropbox on both my OS X computer and my iOS devices.
