Can I rename my userid without causing many problems?

I would like to make all my machines in my home use the same user name and password.

Right now I have several different logins because these machines were purchased years apart.

Basically I'd like to "rename" a userid on one machine to make it the same as a userid on another.

Is this possible without causing me lots of headaches?
