iCal won't take data. Data disappeared from iCal

I have the same problem. I did find if I copy (Ctrl + C) the event before it disappears, I can paste it and then it sticks. However, it won't save Repeats at all and I have to enter each separately (a real pain!). It seems this has happened since I got a new iPad Air -- did not happen with the old iPad. Also, coincidently, I set up a new wireless account and ISP (iCloud, using gmail). Events do seem to transfer OK to other devices, and if I enter them on iPad or iPhone, they show up OK on my MacPro.
