Recently my Podcasts app started crashing about 5-10 seconds after I start it. I'm running the app on an iPod Touch 4th Gen, iOS 6.1.6 and it never happend before. does anyone have a solution that doesn't require me to delete the app or to restore my iPod?

It sounds like your Podcasts app is quitting unexpectedly on you. I would close the app first:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

Thanks for the update. Aside from deleting and re installing the app, you could next try deleting your downloaded podcast episodes and re download them, to see if one of the episodes has gone wonky and is crashing the program. If the issue persists, the next best thing to do would be to delete the app itself, then re install it.

To delete an app you downloaded from the App Store, touch and hold its icon on the Home screen until it starts to jiggle. Tap x to delete.
If the issue is still not resolved, then the next thing to do is back up your device to iTunes:

I asked for a solution that doesn't require me to delete the app, and I said that it automatically crashes 5-10 seconds after I start it. I also said that I don't want to restore my iPod. does anyone have a solution?
I had this problem on my iPod touch 4th gen. It was caused by a corrupt "library" file, and specifically due to one podcast in particular. I had to delete that podcast as quickly as I could between crashes, and eventually when they were deleted the app stopped crashing...
How did you figure out that was the problem, and which podcast was corrupt? Thanks.
