How can I stop Mac OS X Server from accepting email for users that no longer exist?

I recently noticed that several user accounts are still receiving email even though I believe I've told OS X Server that they're no longer in use.

I have a server that has mail service running, and I use workgroup manager to magage the users. When a user leaves, I uncheck the box in the "Basic" tab named "access account". I also switch to the "Mail" tab and click the "None" radio button. Shouldn't this keep the mail server from accepting mail for this user?

Hi Carl,

Asually my client want the option for users that are no longer in use, to forward that usermail to another mailbox. That way you'll know when perhaps a client is still trying to get in touch with your company.

The mailserver will continue to accept mail from that user because the user still exists in your OpenDirectory. Removing the user entirely will fix that, which is basically the same action you take by disabling the user. Or why do you hold on to that user? Do they keep coming back... 🙂

Goodluck!
