I've been trying to move a PDF to my iPad according to the directions in the iPad manual for iOS 7, click on Add to Library in iTunes on the Mac. Nothing happens. It was only a few weeks ago that I moved 2013 tax forms from irs.gov to my iPad; I thought I did it through iTunes.
Well, with iOS 7.1 and Mavericks, you have to use iBooks to get a PDF into your iTunes library.
From the iPad User Guide for iOS 7.1:
“Read PDFs
Sync a PDF. In iTunes on your computer, choose File > Add to Library and select the PDF. Then sync.”
Mavericks has changed things. It is completely useless putting PDFs into your iTunes library purely for syncing to the iPad because it no longer works that way.
The PDFs need to be in iBooks on your Mac for syncing to your iPad.
