Reset/Restore Question

I've heard that restoring an iPod Touch to factory settings and setting it up as a new device will free up "other" space on the device. But my question is, if I do that, can I put my same music, apps and (most importantly) photos back on the iPod without filling up "other" again? Can I do this with a backup? Please reply quickly.

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6

Hey Aidanicity, Yes... yes you can. Before you do a restore to new (factory settings) make sure you backup everything you wish to keep to your computer, music, photos / videos, contact lists, apps, etc.-- your "stuff". Other has info stored within it that comes from having "stuff" on your iPod, (temporary files, cookies, info in histories, game or apps file info etc.), nothing you can do about it, there will always be a certain amount of "other" generally something less than a GB, if more than a GB would indicate a problem, like having corrupted files in other. A full restore to new should get rid of the corrupted files. If you look at other after you restore it will be very small a few MB, but as you add back your stuff it will increase in size, but should stay under a GB. (example: I had a corrupted file on my iPod after running an update other went from 850MB to 5.3GB. After restoring to new, {took 2 restores to clear my issues} what a pain!), knocked other back to 560MB before adding stuff back, after copying stuff back to iPod other back to 890MB, I can live with that). Hope this helps, Good luck, Cheers.
