Mirroring problem using HDMI cable

Hello,

Prior to upgrading to Mavericks, I use to hook up my MacBook Pro via HDMI cable (using mini display port adaptor) to my TV and watch movies through the secondary display. Sound, picture, everthing worked great. Since I've upgraded to Mavericks, I'm getting a white flash covering the secondary screen for a split second, regardless of playing a video or not. Audio cuts out as well during this flash (with what I think is a clipping sound but not sure). Essentially, I use to drag the movie from my Mac screen to the TV, then hit play, and the movie would play perfectly. Now, when I do this, it's glitchy. I've even tried using airplay (and yes, I've updated the software on my Apple TV). With airplay, the audio skips at times, and the video is definitely glitchy.. the video tends to fall behind from the audio being played as well.

Solving problem: Import movies to iTunes. Sync movie to iPad. Use iPad to stream via Airplay. Works great. Shouldn't be this difficult.

Any help? Software fix soon?
