I started to do a backup on my iphone 5s following a notice the device gave. but it was unsuccessful and in the first use of my iphone I saw my iphone battery drains drastically. I had upgraded the software to ios 7.1. what should i do now? is this a problem with the battery?

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
