From your screenshot I don't see any evidence that you've yet created a multiclip.

Essentially, the steps are: selct the clips you want to sync. Create a multiclip. Open it in its timeline to check that it's synced. Create a project. Edit the multiclip to the Project Timeline. Open the Angle View and make your cuts.

There are lots of great tutorials available.Hereis only one of them.

Hey Russ!!

I'm so glad to finally find someone who might be able to help.Sorry! That screen shot was the wrong one.

Please see the new one below...My problem is that I'm new to FCPX but I've done a couple of projects using multiple angles.

The issue with my angle viewer is that it almost looks like it's doubled itself and I'm not sure how to fix it?

And then when I try to select a different angle, instead of the mouse pointer changing to a "Blade", it turns into a little finger pointing hand instead.

Okay, that's the trouble I'm having editing the multicam clip. The other issue is when I play the clip, the video angles in the viewer won't play User uploaded file

The problem is that you have the angle viewer turned on for the event viewer.

As is evident in your screenshot, FCP X has (since 10.0.6 I think) allowed for two viewers, the normal viewer and the introduced "event viewer". Originally FCP X had only one viewer available, and some people wanted two (more or less like the old FCP had, although there are substantial differences).

What you need to do is:

Window->Viewer Display->Show Angles to show the "right" angles, and

Window->Event Viewer Display->Hide Angles to hide the ones you currently see.

Thanks guys!!

I got the viewer issue fixed

@Russ :I just tried to make a new multicam clip for a new project and that's exactly the issue I seem to have :

I highlight both clips to make the multicam clip but when I drag the multicam clip down to the timeline, it doesn't show me angles??

As if there's only one clip there instead of two...I'm not sure how to fix it??

I've just double clicked it and both angles are definitely there...But I don't want to edit them in the timeline though!?

The multicam editing in FCPX is great if I could only get it to work the way it did

(when I only had to click on an angle to switch between video)

Let me back up a little.

Did you:

1) Create a multicam clip with two clips in it (apparently you did)

2) Drag said multicam clip to a project timeline

3) Show angles in the (right) viewer

What do you see then? Can you post a screenshot at this point of the process?

@Russ: No but Clip1 is what it says even though that's not the name I've given it.

I tried to edit the multicam clip on the timeline just to see what happens but even though the angle is there(or seems to be there),

User uploaded filethe screen goes black as soon as I cut to the 2nd angle...like it's actually not there

What you are looking at is called the "Angle Editor". Despite the name, this NOT the place where you do your cuts.

You are in fact not "cutting" to the second angle. The top angle is selected (and as such is referred to as the "monitoring ang;e"), and you are only actually viewing this particular angle. The fact that the viewer turns black at the skimmer position in the picture is NORMAL behavior.

Not sure what that tells us.

The last screenshot you posted certainly shows a multiclip, which has been opened in the Angle Editor (which is like opening a compound clip in its own timeline). It's that multiclip that you want to open in your project timeline and then start cutting in the Angle Viewer.

Looking forward to the next screenshot.

Haha!!Sorry for the screenshots guys but around here I've had to share screenshots a lot to try and get help...

I'm lost and I'm not sure how to get back on track.

I selected both clips, right clicked and chose the "new multicam clip" action...When the multicam clip is dragged to the timeline things just don't seem to work the way it should and it wasn't always this way

I'm sure the angles are supposed to show up in the angle viewer, with the mouse pointer changing to a blade, automatically then??
