I have 24000 photos in the iPhoto library. I'd like to copy them to an external drive easily. There seems to be a limit of 800 at a time which is extremely inconvenient. Is there a workaround?

Don't copy from within the iPhoto application. In fact, close iPhoto while you do this. In the Finder, go to Pictures/iPhoto, and copy the single iPhoto Library file you'll find there. Then paste that file on the external drive. That's all you need to do.

The Drive you are copying TO should be a Mac OS Extended (journaled) format drive.
If you have formatted to a different format, or never changed the factory format, it is likely formatted to an old Windows format that has severe restrictions on file sizes and number of files.
I'd like to make a copy of my 24000 iPhoto files externally. How can i do so? There seems to be an 800 file limit at a time.
