my iPhone 5 screen is unresponsive and top button doesn't work

my iPhone 5 screen is unresponsive and top button doesn't work, how can i fix it ? i have tried to restore but says i need to go into my setting and change something but obviously i cant unlock the screen. tried holding top button and home button to reset but nothing. not sure what else to do ?
