AudioEngine D1 USB DAC

I just received my Audioengine D1. It seems to be incompatible with Logic Pro X; scratching, clicking, etc. sounds when attempting to edit project. These sounds are also in the bounced output. I think I like the D1 for all other sound uses and can certainly work around the problem by unplugging the unit when using Logic Pro X - but I wonder if I'm simply doing something wrong in the setup (or is this another instance of my old-aged brain malfunctioning!)?
