Cant Share from FCPX to DVD

Hi Guys,

Im trying to share my timeline to a DVD. First I tried by sending to Compressor and using the Make DVD preset, and that failed.

So I have been trying by the share button in FCPX directly, again this is failing and im getting message

(com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)

Now the only thing I can think of is that the transcoding is making my HDD full, my Video is at 1hr and 30Mins and I have just under 80Gb spare on my HDD.

But in the share menu it says that will take up 3.7Gb on a DVD. And an hour and half should fit on a DVD no problems anyway.

Im running an iMac 27" 3.4GHz i7, 16Gb of Ram

Imation external Blu-Ray burner (using for standard single layer DVD)

Final cut is Version 10.1.1

running on OS X 10.9.2

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

With compressor it just gives a failed message in the completed tab, nothing else.

I tried to export as a master file in codec H.264, it gives an estimated file size of 13.3Gb, but again, I just get the "failed to share" notification

Tom,

Sorry I can't post screen shots at the moment, I'm currently AFK.. (But not ipad)

Thanks for any help guys

If it failed as a Master file, it indicates a problem with either the media, the FCP project, or posssibly a preference file.

Try simple fixes first.

With FCP closed, trash preferences with Digital Rebellion'sPreference Manager.

After running that app, empty trash and reboot. Then select a short section of your timeline eith the Range tool and try exporting a Pro /res Master.

If that doesn't work, turn off BackGround Rendering in Preferences. Select the project in the Browser and from the File menu, Delete Project Render Files (All). Try exporting that short section again.

Thanks very much Russ!

for anyone else that is having the same problem, I downloaded Preference Manager, and trashed the preferences, and Rebooted. I had already turned of background rendering, and deleted all the render files.

I did have to just reload my projects once Id rebooted, for me it was

File > Open Library

Then tracked them down to the Movies folder.

Thanks again all for your help, it is very much appreciated 🙂
