can I just retrieve photos from the backup files without changing the configuraiton and data currently stored on my iphone 5?

Hi I am wondering if it is possible to retrieve photos I have deleted from my 64gb iphone 5 by using the itunes bakc up files. I do not want to restore my phone though as it will take hours to reload my music and apps and the last time I tried restoring from the backup which has the photos I want, it woul not download the music files (i.e. it only synced cloud based versions of my music to the phone)... A whole other irritating issue in its self!

Thanks Alex

There are several apps that can read the iPhone backups made by iTunes. Do a web search for "iphone backup extractor"

You can also browse the backup using Windows Explorer or Mac Finder. Look at the larger files; they will most likely be photos. The file names will be meaningless to you, but the contents may be what you are looking for. For the location of your iPhone backups see: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
