I cannot scroll in my email messages

Suddenly I cannot use my mouse or track pad to scroll down an open email message. If I want to read the message I can only use the page down or page up button from the keyboard.

Is the mouse Bluetooth?

Check the batteries.

Open another application that you can scroll in such as Safari with a long web page loaded. Do they work there? If so, try quitting Mail and reopening.

If not, go to System Preferences/Bluetooth and make sure both have been 'Discovered'. If they haven't been, try deleting them and re-Discovering them.

If they have been Discovered, go to your user folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.BluetoothFileExchange.plist.

Move the .plist to your desktop.

Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.

If they still aren't working, go to your user folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist and com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.trackpad.plist Move the .plists to your desktop.

Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plists to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
