MacBook Pro wifi connectivity issue

I've been having issues with my MBP's wifi connectivity since a year ago after an update. I'd had the router in known connections list so that the MBP could connect automatically on startup. After that update there's something wrong between the router and the MBP. On startup it tries to connect to the router and wifi icon bars start to flash for a few times and then it remains grey. Even it won't show any other available connection. After reading a lot of forums I couldn't find any solution, but I figured it out that by turning the wifi on and off for a few times, I can get it back to work. Now after one year this isn't working anymore and I can't connect to my router at home at all. The point is that I don't have any issues with other devices using the same router and MBP works fine over other connections. Even I can use wifi flawlessly using windows 8 on my MBP.

Also a friend of mine had a similar issue, but after changing the number of channels to something less than 10 everything was ok for him. I tried changing the number of channels a bunch of times which didn't work for me. I tried everything from deleting the connection and recreating it to turning off the firewall. But there's no change.

That channel changing method sounds reasonable, I'll be really glad to hear more about that solution or any other solution that can lead me out of this deadlock.

Thank you for your time.

Hello Sepehr.E,

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro. I would be concerned about this too.

I'm not sure if you have tried these steps yet, but I recommend following the steps in the following article to resolve an issue like the one you described:

Thank you Sheila M for your help,

I tried all the procedures in that article and there's no change in my MBP's connectivity issue.

Actually I've found out that there isn't anything wrong with my own router. There's something wrong with one of the Neighbours'. Because even if I turn my router off, the MBP keeps having the same issue (just at home where that troublesome network is in range)! It just looks for available networks and then the list of available networks disappears. I'm now able to connect to my router after using "Join Other Networks..." under the wifi icon, but still it requires turning MBP's wifi on and off a few times. It's really annoying. Now I'm sure that the problem is with my neibourgh's router, but I don't know what is wrong.

Please note that all other devices at home including an iPad air, an iPhone 4 and a Windows PC work fine over the same network. I just have this problem on my MBP using OSX Mavericks.

Thank you again for your time.
