I wish to use my ipod touch as an external hard-drive. I have watched videos on how to go about it and they show that there is a greyed out check box that must be checked. This check box does not exist for me. Why not? and is it possible to enable disk use?
MY ipod is an ipod touch 4th generation, 8gb, ios 6.1.6
Itunes version - 11.1.5
iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6
You just be looking at instructions for the older iPods. None of the iOS devices such as the iPod touch have ever supported disk use. There are third-party utilities that purport to provide workarounds to allow such use, but I have no experience with any of them so I can't make any recommendations.

Because disk mode is not supported by any iOS devioce (iPod touch, iPhone and iPad).
