How to delete synced photos

My father has an iPad with iOS 7 and he's trying to delete an album that he synced from a computer he no longer has. He's given it to me to figure out what's wrong and I'm totally stumped with how to solve this problem, seeing as I don't have the original synced images on the computer he has now. I want to solve this without having to back up the other 300 pictures on the device. And yes it is very important to him to have these pictures gone, it's not just a passing fancy or a whim. I need to figure this out for him, can anyone help?

There is no way to remove the one album without removing all of the photos. In order to remove All of the synced photos you will have to unsync them using a computer. If you do this, you will totally erase the iPad as well.

There are ways around this if your dad uses iCloud and you are willing to do some work...and you are willing to import the synced photos using a third party app.
