Airport Express did hard reset on itself

I have a AirPort Extreme 802.11n (5th Generation) running firmware version 7.6.4 and use it as the primary router to support all of the wifi needs of my family (smartphones, tablets, printers, etc.). I've been utilizing both the main network and the guest network without any hiccups until today.

Today, while using my smartphone, I noticed that I was using LTE. I went to settings and saw that both of my wifi networks had disappeared completely. When I ran the Airport Express app, the router did not show. I went down to the basement to check it out and found the router flashing an amber light.

While in 'wifi settings' on my phone, I noticed an option to setup an Airport Express. I selected this option and discovered that all of the settings on the router had been reset to where they were when I first remove the router from the box and connected it to my cable modem for the first time.

Since I had the router locked down and only the family had access to it, my only suspicion at this point is that one of my daughters (s) wonderful and highly respectful (/s) friends may have went at the router with a paperclip to perform a hard reset (if that can even be done that way) to try and do what you could with the older Linksys routers where you could factory reset them with a paperclip and when the router would reset, the wifi network would be wide open with no passwords. Before I start making accusations, however, I figured I would check with you to see if these Airport Express routers are prone to do this type of thing all on their own without any provocation?

Any ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated before I put the hammer down.
