Is it possible to edit an Exchange GAL via an iphone

I have a customer who wants this functionality:

Exchange – Wants changes made on iPhone to sync to global address book – said this has not been able to be done yet and really wants it.

I've not found anything that allows this, and not certain it exists (or if it is a desirable thing to have). Has anyone heard or seen of something that can enable this?

Is the goal for anyone to be able to change any contact in the GAL?

Or, is the goal for each person to be able to change their own contact so it shows correctly in the GAL? OR something in between?

What about other objects in the GAL such as customers, vendors or contacts from related companies?

If you can describe the business goal, there may still be ways to meet that need from the iPhone.
