Unable to unlock when I receive a message on the lockscreen since iOS 7.1 Update

I have to hit the sleep button to turn off the screen and hit again to wake it up and then it unlocks fine. It's strange that I have to do this. It happens all the time even when I reinstalled iOS 7.1 and did not restore from my backup. So I know that for sure I don't have a corrupt backup. I've re installed and wiped this phone several times!

As well it intermittently, the spacebar inputs multiple spaces even though I only type it once. And the X & C keys don't fuction at the same time the spacebar acts up. I have tried the reset dictionary trick, but that's for the lagging keyboard and doesn't help with the spacebar and non existent keys. The only way is get rid of it is I have to hold down the sleep/home till it restarts and keep holding it till the apple logo disappers and then power on 30 seconds later.

It's so frustrating I have to do this. Please help!
