Not sure, but in System Preferences>Date & Time, turn off Update automatically & Manually set the year to 2005... see if that works then. 🙂
Hi...It might work, but now the picture has changed a bit. 6 mos or so ago system told me that I needed to fix disc utility and I couldn't get the repair to work. On another forum someone suggested that I try fixing it from my Leopard install disc. I was scared to try it until today. I thought, that may be the problem with iWork '05 not accepting my serial #, so I did the pre-install steps with my Leopard install dvd. I had to go thru the initial steps 2 or 3 times before locating the disc utility on the menu bar, so there was a quick initiation of the install. Anyway I clicked on disc utility,. It checked out the system and did the repairs successfully. I closed disc utility. Attempted another install of iWork'05. It worked ok until the last when it again requested serial #'s. This time the box to type the serial #s was missing. I was only given the choice of the tour or close. Sooo I think that I need to remedy that problem before I can try your suggestion. Thank you though. If you have any thoughts on this, please let me know.

Despite the message, I'd try the Date thing.
I tried the date thing..same results. The Buy or Try page opened asking me to enter my serial number, but there is no box anywhere to type in the #. Previously on my 1st try there was a box at least even though the serial # was rejected at that time. Presently I can't go anywhere else on this page except "Try" and I can't do that because I already did the 30 day trial from a trial cd more than 6 mos ago. The retail install DVD that I bought on ebay was was said to be brand new and it doesn't appear to be tampered with.The program successfully installed except for that teeny tiny serial # detail. What now Sherlock?
You should be using iWork 09, not 05.
Hmmm, I'm thinking you might have to remove some/all fies before you try again, but...
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this no show box happens.
When you run the Installer, is there an uninstall option?
i'm not sure, but i think that iWork'09 will not work on a non-intel machine like my old G4. Besides '05 will do what i need it to do if i could only download. thanks anyway.
i've been laid up with a wasp sting on my hand. Swelling and itching. Its doing better now.
To answer your 1st suggestion, I just checked console and there are repeating entries. What now.
Also on your 2nd suggestion, did you want me to check for uninstall on the Leopard install or the iWork?

In Console, click on the top line we want, Shift plus click on the bottom line we want, CMD+c to copy, then paste the text in a reply with CMD+v
A couple dozen lines should be about right, hundreds or thousands won't likely be readable. 🙂
See if the iWork Installer has an uninstall option.

Well, we want the lines from when you start trying to install it.
Well, I can't tell. If I mark the top of the numerous entries from 4/16 through the last one today can you interpret or or is that asking too much?

In the installer, is ther an Options button at any pont?
Just note the date/ime before you tr an install, then startv at that line until it failed.
No options button in the installer. It completely installed again. I could not quit the application this time. I think I may understand a little more about what I am looking at in the console. I keep looking though.
