Choppy video?

Safari 7.0.3 suddenly shows choppy video clips (youtube, etc.) on a Mac running OS 10.9.2. Anyone know of any fixes? (Firefox is not having the same problem, so it's clearly a Safari issue.)

Try this workaround > Adobe Community: ATTENTION MAC CUSTOMERS - Flash Player 13 "Plugin Failure" Workaround

If that doesn't help ...

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.

Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings

Not empty the Safari cache.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.

Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar

Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.

Now try a video.

So.....all the solutions here have NOT worked for me....i still get a 'jittery' playback of Flash videos streamed from the web in Safari

I have uninstalled flash with the flash installer...then reinstalled each of the version 12.

i have manually deleted the flash files in the internet plugins folder....then tried again....

still nothing

the only fix that is working right now is to use Firefox........which IS using ver 12.0.0.77...and nae chance i'm updating that right now...but

i really hope there is a fix for my situation.......my mac is

Late 15" 2011 MBP...2.4GHz i7...16GB....SSD....OSX 10.9.2....basically my laptop is not one of the older affected models as stated on adobe's site.....

i like safari....but is it time to move?

That was the fix, Dominic! I hadn't yet removed all website data from Privacy prefs in Safari. Thanks so much!

Note, by the way, that I contacted Adobe support directly. Their tech told me the stuttering video has nothing to do with their recent Flash fix. (They've been hearing about it from many.) Methinks when enough people complain about Safari's stuttering video but, Apple will release an update. Thanks again for the interim fix!

I am having the same issue 😮

Press the button “ Remove All Website Data”.

I this this is the key, but before doing it, I happened to see "Private Browsing..." under the Safari Menu and got curious.

I turned on Private Browsing and the jitter went away (didn't even close Safari... just did a page refresh <cmd-R>).

Turned Private Browsing off, and the jitter came back.

Is there some rogue application monitoring my browsing?

I don't have any extension in my ~/USER/Library area BUT...

  • From my ~user account on this machine, the jitter occurs.
  • But from other user accounts on this machine, there is no jitter.
  • This problem seem to only affect Safari (not FireFox).

Where did this come from? I don't install 3rd party software too often, and when I do I thoroughly check review and multiple, credible reviewers.

I will try deleting the "Remove all Website Data", but I still wonder if the problem might come back. Is there a rogue process interacting with my Safari/Flash?

NOTE: This problem occurs on 13.0.0.201. But is also occured yesterday on version 12.xxx prior to updating.
