What is the icon for internet

Safari, the compass like symbol.

There is a symbol in the upper left side that looks like a fan...that indicates if you have WiFi access. Without that, on a WiFi only iPad you cannot have internet access.

There is no internet icon on the iPad.

Safari is a browser to use to access the internet if you already have connection.

If you want to get to the settings and connect to the internet then that icon is a grey one
