Which part on my computer is damaged by water?

I recently spilled a little bit of water into the air vents between the keyboard and the screen. I turned my computer off when it happened, and left it to dry for 48 hours before attempting to turn it on and back it up in case it died. The computer turns on but the date was reset all the way back to January 2000 and it will not connect to the internet or load any apps, such as pages and system preference. When an application won't open all the way, I can only force quit it to get it to go away. What's wrong?
