Q: How do I create a start up disk with Mavericks that I can use to reboot my computer after I erase it and reinstall from Timeline?

"Hold down the Command and R keys at startup to start the computer from the Recovery system. The Recovery menu that appears includes the option to restore from a Time Machine backup."

Apr 17, 2014 4:44 AMby Barney-15E,You'll need to download the Installer from the Mac App Store. Then you can use the program babowa suggested or the built in utility: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5856
But, benwiggy has provided the answer to your question. You should have a Recovery partition alread set up which allows you to do what you want without anything else.
