Can I change the import (from computer) sidebar?

I used to use Transmit to suck the photos from my iPad but it seems tempremental so now I am bringing them onto my mac via ShutterSnitch Backup. This dumps all the photos from a shoot into a designated folder on the mac. When I select import and select the mac a finder-like interfacea ppears at the bottom of the window (grab below). On the left are the various drives attached to the mac and a few shortcuts to 'desktop', 'pictures', 'user' and 'documents'. What I want to know is how, if at all, can I add a new shortcut to this sidebar to point directly to my import folder? At the moment I am having to whittle down through to find it - not a great drama but tedious.

I don't think, you can change that list in the Import panel. I ssearched the Aperture Preferences file for hidden options, but could not find one.

However, you can add your folder to the sidebar in the Finder by dragging it there.

So, as a work-around, use the Finder to navigate quickly to your import folder. The "Import" panel will instantly show any folder you drag into the panel.

Drag your Import folder using the Finder directly into the sidebar of the Import panel file chooser. Aperture will open this folder in its File Chooser.

Hi Stephen,

A couple of suggestions. I don't know enough about your workflow to know whether they might help:

- Designate, in ShutterSnitch Backup, a more readily-available folder in which to put your camera files, and import as you are doing. Or:

- To import, drag the folder from Finder and drop it in Aperture. You can "spring open" Aperture in mid-drag by hovering your mouse cursor over the Aperture icon in the Dock.
