Ive change my AppleId but cannot change ICloud?

I have been forced to change my apple Id as BT are withdrawing my old email address. I've managed to change everything bu iCloud when I attempt to change it asks me if I want to delete the account from the Mac and that I may lose calendar information etc. Where do I change the Apple ID without losing my contact info in the iCloud?
