I'm trying to open itunes store in PC windows XP , and an error notification pops out " an iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unknown error occured (0x80096004) ". Somebody know to fix it?

I am also having the same problem. It must be a problem with Apple. My daughter has Windows 7 but is not having any problems.

i think mayb microsoft ady stop update for the window xp..so mayb itunes also going to be stop service to the window xp too..

Given Windows are soon going to phase out XP and discontinue its support, I guess this move was expected. Probably,
1) Apple should have informed it users
2) Should have come up with iTunes compatible with all versions of windows ( I don't think it's not possible).
Let's see. Until then, no activity with iTunes.
just wonderful , windows xp no longer connects to Itunes .. Apple must want me to pay Microsoft for the newest Windows o/s > please come up with a fix .
BTW , my on line banking still allows me to work with XP ...

The problem shows that Itunes can not establish a secure link to Itunes Store .
XP SP3 still works -
XP SP2 will not work

update to SP3 and you will no longer get the error
